RoleChar is a library of community-written roleplay characters, with a public price list and a login wall in front of the first message. You can browse every character and read both paid tiers without an account. You cannot chat, generate an image or see the free allowance without one, and no company is named anywhere on the site.

The RoleChar chat wall, one click after Start Chat
Every character page carries two buttons, Start Chat and Generate Pictures. We clicked Start Chat on a character without an account. The page did not change address. A panel came up instead, headed Login to start chat!, with Sign up and Login under it and no message field anywhere on the page.
The site's own documents disagree about how much you get first. The privacy policy says you will be asked to register after a free test of a few messages. The terms of use put thefree allowance at 5 to 20 messages in total. In practice, on the day we checked, the count before the wall was zero.
Create Character and Generate Video both redirect to the login page. The image generator is the one tool that opens: prompt, negative prompt, anime or realistic style, one to eight images and a creativity slider are all there to set. The button at the bottom reads Login to Generate Image.
What RoleChar shows before it asks for an account
The library is the part that is fully public. Each profile shows its creator, a publication date, tags, two usage counters and a thumbs up and down count. The Character Definition tab gives the size of the prompt behind the character, 1,832 tokens for the one we opened, then asks you to subscribe to read it.

Walked on rolechar.com on 23 September 2026, anonymously, from the home page through a character profile, the chat button, the image generator and the pricing page. Nothing was typed into a form that day. An account was opened on 24 September 2026, for the chat settings only.
The size of the library is readable from the outside. Thesitemap lists 2,094 character pages and 94 tag pages, male, female and non-binary among them. The home page filters by Female, Male, Anime and Game. The tags are drawn with a small icon, and the Female tag carries the same man icon as the Male one.
The RoleChar price list, and the countdown that restarts
The pricing page is public, which puts RoleChar ahead of several platforms we cover. It sells two tiers, Premium and Deluxe, each in three durations. Every figure below was read on rolechar.com/pricing on 23 September 2026.

The prices are displayed per month. For the 3 and 12 month options, the total charged at checkout is not printed on the page, and we did not go to checkout to see it.
Above the plans, a banner reads Limited Time Offer, Save up to 70% OFF next to a countdown. We loaded the page twice, 25 seconds apart, and got the same reading both times, just over two hours and twelve minutes. A fresh browser profile gave the same figure again. A deadline that restarts on every visit is not a deadline, and the crossed-out price it frames is the anchor for every discount on the page.
Two smaller things from the same page. The crypto button did not render: its image, served by NOWPayments, returned a 404, and the page shows its alt text instead. And the pricing FAQ states that all chats are encrypted end to end. A service whose model has to read your message to answer it can mean several things by that, and nothing on a public page lets us check which.

What RoleChar loads in your browser
We recorded every host the browser contacted on the home page, the pricing page, the FAQ and the legal pages, once without touching the cookie banner and once after clicking Accept All.

The banner describes analytics as optional. Google Analytics loads before you answer it. Microsoft Clarity, which records sessions, waits for Accept All, and that is the right way round for a replay tool. There are no advertising pixels in the list, which is lighter than most of the category.
The site's security header also names the services the page is allowed to call. OpenAI and OpenRouter are among them. A header says what is permitted, not what is used, so we record it and draw nothing from it. Our guide to what these platforms keep explains what a session replay tool sees.
Who runs RoleChar, according to its own terms
Nobody, by name. The footer says Rolechar AI, all rights reserved. The terms of use and the privacy policy refer to Rolechar AI throughout and never give a company, a registration number or a registered office. The privacy policy appoints a Controller within our team, reachable through a Support link that opens a Proton Mail address.

- •They add that the service can be represented in Malta or in Delaware.
- •The section written for Google Play gives a support address in Zaventem, Belgium.
- •The terms and privacy policy mention App Store and Google Play apps. We found no store link on any page we opened.
Three jurisdictions and no entity is not a hidden fact, it is printed in the terms. It matters the day a charge has to be disputed, because the document you agreed to does not say who you agreed it with.
The RoleChar pages written for other brands
The static sitemap holds 33 pages. A dozen of them carry the name of another product, among them Candy AI, Muah AI, Talkie, PepHop, Joyland and Emochi. The Candy AI page describes Candy, then offers a Candy AI-style companion on RoleChar. Its FAQ answers that you can chat for free, and that conversations are never shared with external services.
The first claim runs into the login panel described above. The second sits on a site that loads Google Analytics before the cookie banner has been answered. We cover several of the platforms those pages borrow names from, and the Character AI alternatives list is where we compare the ones built like RoleChar.
The RoleChar score we are not publishing
We score platforms on six criteria. Two of them, how the chat holds a conversation and how good the generated images are, sit behind the login. A third, pricing, depends partly on what the free plan gives, and the only description of that is a range in the terms. Price list, privacy, onboarding and features we could read. Scoring the rest would mean guessing two criteria out of six, which is why RoleChar is absent from our roleplay chatbot ranking. When the chat can be assessed, it gets a score like everything else.

Is RoleChar free?
There is a free plan, but we could not see what it contains. The chat asks for an account before the first message. The terms of use describe the free allowance as between 5 and 20 messages in total and up to three characters, with extra credits for completing tasks, and the privacy policy speaks of a free test of a few messages. We record the range as the terms give it and could not verify it.
Does RoleChar have male characters and an AI boyfriend option?
Yes, on the public pages. The home page has a Male filter, the tag sitemap lists male, female and non-binary, and the character we used for our screenshots is a male hacker. There is a dedicated /ai-boyfriend page. What the conversations are like with any of them sits behind the login.
Does RoleChar accept crypto?
The pricing FAQ says it accepts Bitcoin, Ethereum and other currencies through NOWPayments, and the NOWPayments script loads on the page. The crypto button itself did not render when we checked: its image returned a 404, so visitors see the alt text in its place. We did not go further than that.
Is airoleplay.net part of RoleChar?
RoleChar lists it on its partners page. Every call to action we found on airoleplay.net points to rolechar.com with a tracking tag naming airoleplay as the campaign. We have no ownership record either way, so we describe the links and stop there.
Can you get a refund from RoleChar?
The terms say paid subscriptions are not refunded, with case by case exceptions for mistakes on their side or technical faults, handled by support. Cancellation is from the account page or the billing portal, and a cancellation that arrives after a new period has started takes effect at the following one.
